All routes to Rakaposhi tops are long and difficult. The Western routes are lengthy, northern routes are lofty and technically complicated, and southern and eastern routes are hazardously plain due to storm risk. After six futile missions the peak was first climbed via SW spur in 1985 by British-Pakistani forces Himalayan Expedition. Six camps and high altitude porters made the journey successful.
